The war began on 12th April 1587 with the Cadiz raid by Francis Drake against the Spanish.
The war continues with the Invincible Armada on 6th August 1588
Drake became vice admiral in the English fleet.
In 1589, it was the expedition Drake-Norreys
In 1595 he failed to capture the port of Las Palmas, and after a disastrous campaign against the Spanish possessions in South America, where he suffered several setbacks, he attacked San Juan de Puerto Rico without success.
