His parents were Edmund Drake and Mary Malwaye.
He was the eldest of a family of twelve children.
He married first with Mary Newman and secondly with Elizabeth Sydenham.
He worked for Elizabeth I (1533-1603).
His enemies were the Spanish camp and the king Philip II.
